Doctors with Africa CUAMM is the first NGO in the healthcare area officially recognised in Italy. Founded in 1950 with the aim of training doctors to work in developing countries, actually CUAMM is working in Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda implementing healthcare projects in partnership with local governments and institutions.
PROJECT TITLE: Capacity building for improving access to quality obstetric, neonatal and child care services in Pujehun District
JOB LOCATION: Sierra Leone, Pujehun District

DURATION: 5 months (extendable)
REQUIREMENTS
- University Degree in Medicine and Surgery with further specialisation or Master in Public Health and Hygiene
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
- Previous experience in Developing Countries
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The main objective is to integrate the new Maternity centre with the activities of the peripheral health units, creating a referral system from the community to health centres and hospital.
Another objective is to enhance technical capacity of local staff and to create a link with training schools in order to provide good quality obstetric, neonatal and pediatric services in the District.
KEY DUTIES
The successful candidate will be responsible of Public Health activities foreseen by the project.
The main tasks of this function will be the following:
- Technical Assistance to the District Health Management team especially to improve planning of Obstetric, Neonatal and Paediatric services
- collaboration on elaboration of district health plan
- support the improvement of Health Management Information System
- develop a referral system with clear function referral protocols
- conduct systematic, regular supportive supervision visits, On the Job Training and continuous medical education for Health Centres staff
- monitor the availability of drugs, materials, equipments and supply in the Health Centres
- training of Health Centres in provision of focused Post Natal Care starting 1st 24-48 hours
- identification, training and supervision of 150 CHWs within catchment areas of each of the Health Centres
- support training activity of the Pujehun MCH Aides school for quality improvement
