Uganda
The group of projects undertaken by Doctors with Africa CUAMM in Uganda is part of a long term plan of action, focusing strongly on the healthcare structures currently available in the country and on strategic investments to expand local human and technical resources. In Uganda, Doctors with Africa supports and works with both the principal suppliers of health-care services; private non-profit organisations of the Catholic Church and government entities, to favour a country-wide programme in line with the objectives and priorities established by governmental health-care services planning. In order to better meet existing needs within this particular framework, the projects and activities are constantly coordinated with our local counterparts and refined along the way, thus producing a dynamic range of interventions in constant evolution. The result is an extremely innovative method of cooperation which, by breaking free of the rigid logic of each single project, guarantees and increased focus on local problems and a broad consensus among all those involved, with constant and immediate benefits for the patients and the local population. Specifically, the programme aims at the integration of health care services across the territory, which in many cases implies a large amount of health care training among the local staff.
